Black Herstory Month is an event that aims to celebrate the Black History Month from a gender perspective. Black women’s stories have too often been erased from history or ignored.
Through different art workshops, participants will discover inspiring black women who have contributed positively to British society, but don’t receive the same recognition as white men or women in our society.

Art Workshops and times:

-Mary Seacole’s Statue: 11:30h-15:30h
-Claudia Jones, ‘A people’s art is the genesis of their freedom’, and the Notting Hill Carnival: 11:30h-15:30h
-Where are all the black women in science?:11:30h-15:30h

-Olive Morris and Activism: 13:00h-15:30h

Talk: 15:30h-16:30h

We will be discussing about visibility of black women in certain roles. These talks will last for an hour and will include the participation of the general public as well as different women groups interested gender and race.
