Meet the team that is going to Lesvos

Here we introduce you to the Lon-art team going to Lesvos this summer. This is how we will be collaborating in partnership with Symbiosis Team. We really believe that art can change people’s perceptions and our objective is to make people think out of the box and approach this crisis from another more positive and arty perspective. Our benefiters will be people and the Festival and hopefully we will also have the chance to offer the same workshops to people living in the refugee camps. We hope our workshops will offer participants an highly enriching experience.

Maria González, Arts Coordinator: I will be travelling next month to Lesvos to get everything ready for the art workshops. I am leading the design of the art workshops that we will offer and during the festival, I will coordinate the team of art facilitators. My aim will be to make sure that participants enjoy creating an artwork, while reflecting upon the refugee crisis from a positive perspective.

Bisila Noha, Arts Facilitator: At Symbiosis, I will be part of the core team in charge of coordinating volunteers and art educators during the arts workshops, as well as being the main facilitator at the ceramics workshops. We are super excited about this amazing opportunity to design art workshops for such an inspiring and meaningful event, as Symbiosis as an event embodies everything Lon-art believe in and aim at.

Rosa Pérez, Interpreter and Arts Facilitator: I strongly believe in the power art has to create bridges and fight stereotypes, which is vital in the current climate. That is why I am very excited to be part of Symbiosis. During the festival, I will be in charge of coordinating volunteers and art educators during the arts workshops, as well as being the main facilitator in the languages workshops.

Miranda Lathouras: I am an artist and will travel all the way from Australia to be part of Symbiosis. I collaborated with Lon-art in a mosaic project back in 2012 and since then I have been following what they do. I am helping the team to design the art workshops and will lead the mosaic happening in Eressos.
