Call Out for Artist | Lon-art Collaborative Community Exhibition at Oxford House
Application Deadline: 5th May
Lon-art, a non-profit art education organisation that works with the local community in East London, will be undertaking its third exhibition project, Now and Then, Here and There, in October/November at Oxford House in Bethnal Green.
We are looking for an artist using the written word for collaboration on the project.
The project will centre around two encounters: the first artist will work with a community group for local women, using textiles, while the second artist will work with sixth form pupils at a local school, using the written word as art. Focus will be on the textile and linguistic history of East London respectively, with interactions and discussions centred around tradition, contemporary life, memories and experiences of the local area.
Schedule
Workshops: 1.5 to 2 hours per week over five weeks from mid-October – negotiable
Exhibition: late November
Workshop for general public: one evening during exhibition, late November
We will be offering an artist fee for the development and undertaking of workshops. Please contact Lon-art for full details.
