This summer, Lon-art travels to Lesvos, Greece, to be part of Symbiosis Lesvos Arts Festival, a World Music & Arts Festival, aimed to promote intercultural exchange and dialogue.
The festival will run from July 26th to August 26th and take place in 3 different locations in the island – Mytilene, Eresos and Molyvos.
Lon-art workshops will be held during the second part of the festival, that is, from August 6th to 13th in Eresos. A coastal town famous for its laid-back spirit. Our workshops will aim at boosting the cultural bonds and similarities existing among the Mediterranean countries to promote their richness and build synergies. We will use the Mediterranean languages, as well as art techniques and materials traditionally used in the region, such as clay and mosaics, as a means to bolster this symbiosis and the positive outcome of historical cultural interchanges. And they will be offered not only to the people attending to the festival, but also to the refugees, either at the refugee camps or at the festival.
Symbiosis embodies everything Lon-art believes in as an organisation, as it has been conceived as an opportunity to bring locals, the international community and refugees together and use art as a means to build synergies and promote cultural understanding.
