Yesterday Verónica Restrepo led the last of the Women’s History Month workshops (Event organised by Alternative Arts). Verónica talked about the close relationship between clay, women and myths in a fascinating way that captured the participants attention and inspired them to create amazing artworks.
More than 25 people attended this workshop, among them the Bangladeshi Women’s group from Spitalfields Housing Association. Thanks to all of them for participating and re-thinking gender roles in societies through clay and ceramics. It was a great success and we are happy to share the pictures below.
We would like to give special thanks to:
- Idea Store for providing us the space to hold this workshop.
- Luis Arnal for taking these amazing pictures below!
- Shirinkis Begum for attending this workshop with this beautiful group of women and for sharing with us so many experiences from Bangladesh.
- And finally to Verónica Restrepo for sharing her knowledge of ceramics and anthropology and for mixing theory and practice in such a wonderful way.
